About the Soliloquy Video Project: If the point of the exercise is to put a personal emotional touch to some text, why not get rid of the most difficult task: making ourselves fluent in Shakespeare. We will still have to memorize the "To be or not to be.." but for this project, wouldn't it be easier to do something everybody is a little more comfortable and familiar with? So I came up with a solution: Strip the rhythm and instruments from a song of you're choosing, and recite the lyrics in a tone they're supposed to represent. A lot of people already have their favorite songs memorized, so that part is out of the way before the assignment is even thought up, and the whole point of the assignment, putting feeling to text, can still be attained.
